Original manuscripts reflecting a high quality
of scholarship are invited from scholars and practitioners in
a wide variety of arenas and disciplines relevant to the double
bass or related instruments. Topics may be presented from any
number of different perspectives or disciplines, such as historical
musicology, performance practice, pedagogy, lutherie, iconography,
biography, and/or analysis, and may deal with subjects stemming
from any period in the instrument’s history up to the present.
- Article length should not exceed 10,000 words.
- Contributions must be new, previously unpublished
material or interpretations.
- The official language of the OJBR is English
(although provisions may in future be made to publish foreign
texts along with their English translation). At this time, authors
are required to submit their document in English, or provide
an English translation, before the article may be considered.
- Contributors are advised to consult recent issues
of the OJBR and/or to contact the General Editor with any questions
concerning tone or content, or if the suitability of their material
is in doubt.
- Articles may be submitted for consideration at
any time. Submissions should be sent by email (preferably as
an attachment, formatted in Microsoft Word, but otherwise pasted
into the body of an email) to: info@ISBworldoffice.com
- Any musical examples created with a music software
program should be submitted electronically, either in a music
software program or as saved as JPeg files. All files, tables,
figures and illustrations should be submitted as separate documents.
Please DO NOT embed them into the body of the text document.
- Photographs and artwork to support the article
are welcome. These should also ideally be sent electronically,
as JPeg files, or they may be mailed to the ISB office (attn:
Joëlle Morton, General Editor, OJBR, International Society
of Bassists, 13140 Coit Rd., Suite 320, LB 120, Dallas, TX 75240).
To be safe, do not mail originals.
- It is the author’s responsibility to obtain
permission for including/reproducing any copyrighted material.
